What is a Certified Healthcare Transporter (CHT)?
The national professional credential for hospital patient transporters. Credentialing is managed by Impact Training Company; the curriculum is endorsed by NAHTM. In use since 2003.
How do I become CHT certified?
CHT is earned through your hospital with an active CHTI instructor. Complete the courses and assessments for the level sought and demonstrate workplace competency. The full three-course pathway leads to CHT-3; CHT-1 and CHT-2 have their own requirements. See the full step-by-step →
How much does it cost?
Standard materials and certification fees total $355 per candidate ($325 participant set + $30 certification package), before applicable shipping and taxes. Hospital-led training and validation are required. Group and hospital pricing is available - see the employer page.
What's the difference between HPT and CHT?
HPT is the entry-level online certificate that gets you started. CHT is the deeper, instructor-led national credential with competency validated on the job.
Can my hospital deliver CHT internally?

Is the credential verifiable?

Does the CHT expire?
Yes. Renew every five years with a renewal capstone, behavioral validation where required for the level held, employer and CHTI attestation, and the $20 renewal fee. Submit within the 90-day renewal window. The Candidate Handbook lists the requirements for each level.
